Our Mission

The Live Oak Family Resource Center improves the quality of life and strengthens the individuals and families of Live Oak while promoting a safe and healthy community.

Helping families help each other since 2001.

Strong Families

Parent Education

The LOFRC holds weekly parent-child playgroups in English and Spanish. Explore with other families the joys and challenges of parenting. We also offer popular courses in Positive Discipline. Take a Saturday workshop, or deepen your learning with a longer series!

See our flyers on the right.

Roots & Wings

In partnership with the County of Santa Cruz, the Roots & Wings program supports foster parents and resource parents who have children in their care. This includes both tangible support such as clothing and recreation for the children as well as emotional support for the families in times of need.

The LOFRC partners with licensed counseling interns to offer free counseling to individuals and families.

Healthy Living

Healthcare Access

Are you in search of health insurance or a medical provider? Our advocates can connect your family to programs such as Medi-Cal and the Covered California Health Exchange. We'll also help you find and make the most of a primary care provider. Not eligible for insurance? We can still present you with affordable options. Also ask us about free on-site health screenings.

Drop-in Services / Case Management

We provide bilingual support on a drop-in basis to individuals and families. We'll explore options with you as you choose the solution that's best for your family. We assist with applications, translations, phonecalls, MetroPass sales, food bank distribution, and much more. For families who might benefit, we also follow up with case management services.

Thriving Youth

Live Oak Leagues

Our free summer sports leagues provide healthy summer recreation. Youth can play Futsal indoor soccer, Junior Giants baseball, or both! Provided in collaboration with the Sheriff's Activities League, Live Oak School District, and great volunteers.

Youth Mentoring

Young people referred to us by the Santa Cruz County Probation Department receive counseling, mentoring, and community service opportunities. We help them complete job applications, keep key appointments, and find constructive ways to interact with peers and adults.

A dedicated team of volunteers provides after-school tutoring for youth throughout the school year.

Engaged Community

Neighborhood Events

We hold events year-round to build community and support the Center. Sign up to sell at our annual Yard & Craft Sale, attend our festive Holiday Posadas, and much more.

Civic Engagement

Get involved at the LOFRC or in the wider community. Become a neighborhood leader in COPA, Communities Organized for Relational Power in Action. We also welcome volunteers here at the Center in many different roles. Let us know what you'd like to do!
