The LION initiative brings us better, safer, more connected residents and neighborhoods that are vibrant from within. This project will help build a lasting social infrastructure beyond this one-year pilot project.
How do we do this?
The core of the LION initiative involves residents organizing to develop priorities for improving safety, beautification, and other neighborhood-based projects. Additionally, small grants from the Santa Cruz County Redevelopment Agency (RDA) will fund the projects that address structural improvements, elimination of blight, and other RDA goals.
The LION initiative is fully funded by the Santa Cruz County Redevelopment Agency with support form the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors. Our LION Neighborhood Engagement Specialist, Steven Weiss from the Community Bridges Live Oak Family Resource Center, will guide and support residents to organize, develop projects, and apply for the RDA grants.
