Lift Line is committed to broadening opportunities for all individuals by providing and coordinating the most accessible transportation possible.
Lift Line has been providing the Santa Cruz County community with daily accessible transportation for over 20 years. We provide county residents who are disabled, elderly or frail with over 50,000 rides per year.
We are ready to serve you!
In need of low-cost transportation, but can't take the bus due to a disability or frailty? You may qualify for Lift Line.
- Our fleet of vehicles provide comfortable trips for eligible riders.
- Our professional drivers offer door-to-door assistance from origin to destination.
- Escorts, Personal Care Attendants and a limited number of traveling companions are welcomed.

Same Day Medical Transportation
History
This is a new program that was made possible through new funding. It started January 1, 2013 and will continue through December 31, 2013. New funding will need to be secured to continue the program past 2013.
Eligibility
Residents of Santa Cruz County that meet the income, age and/or disability criteria. May use this same day transportation to medical appointments including dentist, prescription drugs, and other medical related needs. Some verification of scheduled appointments may be required.
Fare
No charge for this service.
Service Area
Santa Cruz County.
Hours
Monday through Friday except holidays. The first pick up is at 8:30 am and the last pick up is at 3:30 pm.
We have a one hour pickup window but expect most pickups to be within 20-30 minutes.
Ride Purpose
Call the same day between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm to schedule your same-day pick up.
You may call the night before to schedule an 8:30 am pick up (only two 8:30 am pickups available).
Trips are prioritized; first come, first served for eligible riders.
Out-of-County Medical Transportation
History
Lift Line has been providing this service since October 2009, due to new funding starting January 1, 2013 we have increased this transportation to five days per week.
Eligibility
Those with out-of-county medical appointments who meet the residency, income, age and/or disability criteria.
Fare
No charge for this service.
Service Area
Transportation services are primarily from Santa Cruz County to Palo Alto (Stanford Medical Center, the Veterans Hospital, V.A. Monterey Bay/Ford Ord, Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital, San Jose, Santa Clara, Menlo Park, Occasional trips to San Francisco, and Gilroy.

History
Since October 1977 Community Bridges has operated transportation in Santa Cruz County.
Eligibility
Available for veterans that meet the criteria of residency, income, age and or disability.Fare

Available to Santa Cruz County Residents traveling to veterans medical services at the Veteran’s Building 1040 Emeline Avenue, Building E, Santa Cruz.Every Wednesday except holidays. Van will have pick up at
- Veterans Center Parking Lot (1350 41st Avenue, Capitola)
- Vet’s Memorial Building (846 Front Street, Santa Cruz)
- Homeless Service CTR (115 Coral Street, Santa Cruz)
Space is limited.
First pick up will be in Capitola at approximately 8:30 am. Van will leave Emeline at approximately 12:30 pm and drop off riders at Vet’s Memorial Building (846 Front Street, Santa Cruz) and Veterans Center Parking Lot (1350 41st Avenue, Capitola.)
V.A. Monterey Bay/Ford Ord hours
Monday – Friday except holidays. Times to be determined.
Reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
Trips are prioritized; first come, first served for eligible riders.
First pick up will be in Santa Cruz at approximately 8:30 am. Van will leave Monterey and return to Santa Cruz after last appointment.
- Van will have pick up at CVS Pharmacy Parking lot (600 Front Street, Santa Cruz)
- Veterans Affairs Parking lot (1350 41st Avenue, Capitola)
- Pajaro Plaza parking lot (1055 Main Street, Watsonville)
Door to Door service will be provided for those in wheelchairs, space is limited.
Taxi Scrip
This program offers discounted coupons or “scrip” to use for taxi fares. This program is a federally and locally subsidized program, funded by the “Transportation Development Act.” An eligible person buys scrip from Lift Line at a discounted rate, and then arranges his/her own taxi ride directly with the taxi company. The scrip is used in place of money to pay for/or supplement the price of the taxi ride from one of our participating taxi companies:

- Deluxe Cab Co (Santa Cruz Cab Co)
- Courtesy Cab Co. (Watsonville)
Eligibility
An application is required to determine eligibility.Fare: Scrip can be used to pay the metered taxi rate.
Service Area
No restrictions to service area. However, scrip is only accepted by participating taxi companies.
Options
Lift Line now offers the option of buying three months’ worth of scrip ($90 worth) at one time. If you take advantage of this option, you may not purchase scrip again until three months have lapsed, but this option enables long distance emergency trips for clients who need them.
Medical Rides Program
The Medical Rides program is designed for the residents of Santa Cruz County who need essential Lift Line services.
Eligibility
Determined by an application process. Eligible clients are low-income, or have other mitigating circumstances. Income must be verifiable.

None.

Senior Dining Center Transportation
Eligibility
For those enjoying the Meals on Wheels Congregate Dining Centers.
Fare
No fare. However, donations are gladly accepted.
Service Area
From Santa Cruz County locations to the Meals on Wheels Dining Centers.
Hours
Coordinated with Dining Center meal service times.
Ride Purpose
For transportation to and from the Meals on Wheels Dining Centers only.
Outside Contracts/Private Events
Do you need a ride for your event?
Maybe your family reunion, a summer camp, or a community event. We have provided shuttle rides for such events as the AT&T Pro AM, Concours d'Elegance, Human Race, and the Capitola Art and Wine Festival to name a few, and we’re ready to help you too.

Service Area
There are no limitations to service area. However, long distance rides and rides in rural areas are subject to scheduling availability.
